Testing for Fire Resistance

Evaluate to see if your building materials or systems meet the necessary fire resistance and flammability standards.

Multiple Steiner tunnels, big, mid, and small-scale furnaces, ISMAs, hood and cone calorimeters, and vertical and horizontal furnaces are among our several pieces of equipment. Our testing facilities allow us to test the fire resistance of products ranging from floor/ceiling multistory assemblies to fire doors and firestops, and we can test building or construction products of virtually any scale.

We can perform tests according to ANSI/UL, ASTM, CAN/ULC, and NFPA requirements, and collaborating with us gives you access to one of the world’s most diverse research portfolios. We have the experience you need if you need testing to industry or organization guidelines, custom testing for research and development, or certification for your product or system.

Resistance to fire
Determine a material’s, product’s, or assembly’s ability to withstand a fire or provide long-term protection.

Spread of the Flame
Evaluate the capacity for spreading flames in the event of a fire by measuring the propagation of a flame away from the source of combustion through the surface of a substance or assembly.

Fire Reaction
Understand how the product reacts when it is exposed to such conditions and how the content contributes to the blaze by decomposition.

Testing of fire doors
Every one of our fire door testing laboratories has analysis, mid, and full-scale furnaces.
